I am wondering why we are looking to fast food resturants for the health of our kids. They are basically forcing McDonalds  to keep the toy out of the happy meals unless they are are under a certain calorie count and considered healthy. I guess I understand the point but isn't it the parents job to provide a healthy balanced meal for their kids? McDonalds is and always will be a fast food (hambuger and fries) resturant. When kids go there they are not wanted to eat salads, apples and milk. We all go because we want a burger or chicken nuggets or something to that effect. Our kids should not be eating so often at McDonalds that there is a scare of them being obese. Who is putting the kids in the car and driving them there and paying for it? Where should our responsibility lie for our kids obesity? I do not understand  blameing the food establishment that we have to get up and make an effort to go too and then choose to spend the money. If we want our kids to eat apples and milk why not put in in the fridge? Besides can't the parent still buy the toy if they want to??? I'm just saying.

I TOTALLY agree. All things in moderation and we as parents are responsible for teaching out children to make wise choices.

unfortunately there are so many parents out there in such a hurry to tend to there needs they put the child's needs and health on a back burner that tends to stay just there in the back.I was in the store yesterday afternoon and i watched more than a handful of mothers give there kids junk to eat cause they didn't want to deal with the child's behavior cause they where picking out cloths for themselves one of children was 3 or 4 years old and weighted every bit of 60 or better and i here her say give him a cookie he'll shut up.I have to find this it was soooo cute. As parents it is our responsibility to teach our children the healthy ways of living (NOT KILL OUR CHILDREN  WITH FAST FOOD AND COOKIES CAUSE WE OUR IN A SELF MODE)

I don't think it's the governments responsibility to make choices for me.  END OF STORY!  It shouldn't be right to tell a business they can't offer something.  It's the parents job.  If I choose to take my child to McDonalds for a "reward" for something, that's my choice.  (not that I ever get happy meals anyway, but that's not the point).  The point is.... let me parent.  You worry about the billions of dollars in debt this country is in.  Worry about the rapist down the street....  stop worrying about my children, that's my job.

It's our job to make sure our children eat well. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of parents are slacking off in that department. I think it would be nice if McD's (and other fastfood chains) had healthier foods.- Not healthier food "options" like being able to switch the fries for apples but just plain out healthier food. Having a fun night out shouldn't be about poisoning our bodies with goodness-knows-what. It should be about eating quality food with your family without the hassle of cook-and-clean-up. And it shouldn't be about the junky toys. Take a page out of Chick-Fil-A's book and give out BOOKS. Then not only are we giving out kids healthier bodies -even when we're on the run- but we're giving them an opportunity to read, to learn, to broaden their horizons instead of giving them a piece of crap spongebob toy.
