Just something to share with others.

When we were told that Michael would go to Afghanistan, I thought it was going to be a bit harder.

I had no idea.  Within the very first week of arriving, one of his buddies lost a foot to a land mine.

Michael is a Turret Gunner now.  Once, they were out on patrol and a vehicle was hit by an IED.

When Michael's vehicle came to the crater that was formed, the driver couldn't see it and fell into part of it.

They almost rolled.  Michael's two guns rolled with them and one fell on his shoulder, slightly injuring him.

He has been going out on non stop missions.  Once he called and he sounded so tired.  He said that he just got back from a mission and it was his turn for guard duty all night.  Then they were going out on another mission.

I just pray that God holds him in His hands. Covering him with one. Protecting.

I pray that his brothers at arms are safe as well.  Each time I get off the phone I say "Remember who you are".

I raised my son to know he is a prince of heaven and a child of God.  No matter how dark it gets and how fearful he is, remember who he is.

Psalms 121 pretty much sums it up for me.

Song of Ascents

I lift up mine eyes to the mountians-

Where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord ; the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip; He who watches over you will not slumber.

Indeed He who watches over Isreal will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you -

The Lord shades your right hand;

The sun will not harm you by day

nor the moon at night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm -

He will watch over your life.

The Lord will watch over your coming and going

both now and forever more.
