How do you share Quality Family Time to your family? It seems as if the technology kids have today takes away from some of the quality family time we had in the past. For instance, when my grandchildren were younger and came to spend time with us, they would always remark how they loved coming to Grandma's because we sat at the dinner table together as a family. My oldest grandson is 19 and, has a cell phone. The last time he was here we sat at the dinner table and, he was texting under the table. Amazing what the technology has interupted in our everyday life.

When my children were young, we would go camping as a family. I cherish the memories we made, looking back at the quality family time we shared together as we camped.

Camping started I guess when the girls were 10 and 6. We bought a small tent that would sleep 4. We would bring blankets, pillows, food, flashlights, as well as pots and pans. We found we really enjoyed camping, being out in nature with the girls was fun. Each of us would have something to do as we set up our camp. We did that together. When we were finished, we would hike, exploring the camp ground we were in.

That reminds me of Oprah's latest camping adventure. If you haven't seen it, it is hilarious. Here is the link if you would like to watch it.: http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Oprah-and-Gayles-Camping-Adventure-in-Yosemite

It took us awhile to invest in the other things we needed for camping. Thanks to the old S&H stamps I use to save I was able to get a lot of stuff FREE and, who doesn't like FREE. I got a lantern and a larger cooler with my stamps. We would also get a lot from the families during Christmas and Birthdays which we could add to our camping supplies. We each received a sleeping bag one Christmas, which was great. I remember on my birthday once I got a portapot - beats the coffee can.

We have so many wondeful memories of each and every camping trip that we talk about to this day. I remember one weekend we went to a campground which was only 30 minutes away from our house.  It was marvelous and, seemed as if we were far, far away from home.

When sitting around the campfire we would roast marshmallows and make somemores. We would also do a Story Round. A Story Round is when someone starts a story, the next person adds to it, then the next and so on. We would really laugh because the kids would come up with the funniest things to add to the story. We have even done the Story Round with the grandkids. It is loads of fun watching their little creative minds in actions and, the things that pop out of their mouth will almost have you rolling on the on the ground with laughter.

Oh, camping is so much fun and, it is a great way share spend quality family time with your loved ones.
