My husband is going in for major abdominal surgery on Friday morning to remove a massive tumor from his abdomen which is most likely cancerous.  The positioning of the tumor and the type make it a very real possibility that he will die during the operation.  He keeps saying he's going to die, so I asked him, "Shouldn't you be spending some time with the kids then?"  He got mad and continued to play his stupid online video games.  We have three kids, a 15 month old, a 2 1/2 year old, and a 4 year old; they have no idea what is going on, just that their dad is sick.  Our 4 year old has Autism, so he doesn't understand things the way most kids his age do.  I just want their dad to spend some time with them, especially if the worst happens.  I get that he likes playing video games, I do too, but shouldn't the kids be a priority?

Maybe it's his way of dealing with the stress and fear of going in for the opperation.

Try to comfort him and make him feel better.

If you want him off the computer or Xbox tell him to come sit on the couch with you and the kids and you'll rub his shoulders. Make some popcorn and grab him his favorite beer and put on the funny holiday movie so the kids can sit and cuddle with him.
