• In the Spotlight:

It was English custom to celebrate their successful harvest. So in 1621 53 surviving pilgrims did so together with many Indians.  The first recorded religious thanksgiving was in 1623 in response to a providential rainfall. Thanksgiving used to be celebrated the last Thursday of November but in order to leave more space between Thanksgiving & Christmas the holiday was moved to the 4th Thursday of November. It became a national holyday with Abraham Lincoln in 1863 & was set in 1939 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt although congress approved it in 1941. Thanksgiving it’s a time for family, friends, or for romantic get away. Above all things be thankful for your health, friends, family, job, boyfriend, etc. Life is too brief to complaint about what we don’t have when in reality everything we need is right in front of our eyes. Sometimes what we consider rubbish might be someone else’s treasure. Value every moment of happiness. If you have no family or friends to celebrate with, rent your favorite movie & cook yourself your favorite meal. Solitude is not the end of the world. It could be enjoy as well in many different ways. Warm wishes to all those that read this blog these holidays!
