My daily creation

 I am trying to create a scrapbook of favorite recipes.  So instead of trying to write them all down, or keep them in some on-line folder, I thought I would put them here.  That way, Im saving and someone else may want to try.  I promise they will all be super easy!!!!! Some are from magazines, tv shows, etc. and some were created by my mother and grandmother. 

Rolled Sugar Cookies

2\3 cup butter, softenend

3\4 cup sugar

1     tsp. baking powder

1\4  tsp salt

1      egg

1       tbsp mlk

1       tsp vanilla

2      cups all-purpose flour

1. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter 30 seconds.  Add sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping the sides of the bowl. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer.  Stir in any remaining flour. Divide dough in half.  If necessary, cover and chill dough about 30 minutes, or until easy to handle. 

2  On a lightly floured, roll dough, half at a time, until 1\8 inch thick.  Using cookie cutters, cut into desired shapes.  Place 1 inch apart o  an ungreased cookie sheet. 

3  Bake in a 375 degree oven for 7-8 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are very lightly browned.  Transfer to a cooling rack; let cool.

Makes approx 36 cookies.

Royal Icing

1  16 oz pkg. of powdered sugar sifted, 4 1\2 cups

3 tbsp. meringue powder.

1\2 tsp. cream of tartar

1\2 cup warm water

1     tsp. vanilla

paste food coloring (optional)

1  In a laarge mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and cream of tartar.  Add water and vanilla.  Beat with an electric mixer o  low speed until combined; bet on high speed for 7-10 mins. or until mixture is very stiff.  If desired, tint with paste food coloring.  Spread or pipe onto cookies as desired.  Makes about 5 cups.
