I love languages, I love words, and I love to write. I haven't done any in a long time. I have always wanted to write a book. I've started a couple, but haven't ever finished the first chapter. I'm kind of a perfectionist, and I like my rough draft to be my final draft. I know that's not how writing works, but I can't help myself. The goal of writing a book is more a personal "I did it" thing, rather than to make money or get fame.

Today I discovered NaNoWriMo, which is basically a bunch of people who like to write trying to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. I have 9 days left. I started writing 2 hours ago. I've only got about 1,000 words so far. I don't know if I'll make it, but I intend to have lots of fun in the process.

I may be nuts, I may go crazy, but it's only 9 days (with a vacation in the middle). What could happen? The answer: Anything!

Here's a link to my blog if you want to check out the bit I've got done so far... http://mountainmaidencmm.wordpress.com/2010/11/21/nanowrimo/

*Update - 8,109 words since yesterday. 3 chapters. It feels good. It's more than I've ever written for anything. Blog is updated.

If it's something you want to do, you should go for it! I myself love to write as well, so it's really nice to see someone else with the same passion :)

Writers write.  I hate that.  Because I also have problems finishing what I start.  I did Nanowrimo a couple of years ago, and meant to do it again, but it just slipped away.  Good luck

Saya - I have a hard time finishing things too. I get sidetracked, or distracted, or just lose interest. Maybe the 9 day limit will work in my favor...
