For the second year in a row my mom has misplaced my birthday.

Flashback Carrie's birthday, November 2009....Carrie walks into her mother's home.  Carrie's husband makes random small talk comment about nice that you can see your mom on your which Carrie's mom makes the now infamous comment

"Oh is that today?  I thought today was the 26th!"

Yes, mom, it is the birthday.

YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THE 26th??????  I thought today was my friend's daughter's birthday.

Yes mom, its my birthday.  Unless my birth certificate is wrong (which, considering the source, I'm now questioning).

Today I get an email from my mom.

"I bought a turkey last week.  Left you a message yesterday.  Did you get a turkey?  I need to start thawing my or I'll save it for family week. Let me know.  Also, talked to Brette.  They might come for dinner.  We are supposed to go shopping on Friday for her birthday.  So they may stay overnight if they come.

Love you, Mom"

Well that's lovely we get to go shopping on Friday for my sister's birthday present.  I really enjoy time with  my sister.  And I love to shop.

One thing...can I make her give the present to me, since Friday is MY birthday?

Also on the bright side, my  hubby was really sweet about it when I called him to tell him.  I called him and he said he was in a meeting and was it important?  And I said no it's nothing it's fine its not an emergency I'll talk to you later.  Goodbye.

He called me back 2 minutes later and said "I left the meeting, whats wrong, what are you upset about????"

awwwwwwww :'(

Nothing that a few more years of therapy can't fix.  :P

Nov. 22, 2010 at 10:39 PM I know I'm an adult and it's silly. But it's years of this. And with five teenagers if my own I can't imagine being like her. And you know what, I want my mom to know and care that it's my birthday. It hurts when she doesn't. I'm still her little girl.
