where does one learn to spin fire? I have always been interested, but I don't know where to start learning

Most fire spinners are self taught, and get a lot of insight from other fire spinners that they locate in their general area.  I got into it by watching videos at playpoi.com, which has a ton of tutorials using practice poi that does  not get set on fire.  (You only light up after LOTS of practice with the poi that doesn't get set on fire)

I started out about 4 and a half months ago with homemade poi.  (Sock and a tennis ball).

Then I gravitated to professional sock poi and an LED ball (Still use these a lot)

Then I got LED Flowtoys.  (Love using these still too...use them more than fire, actually)  These are a little pricey..about $60 or so for a set...but well worth it if you are serious about spinning.  You can check out flowtoys.com for those.

Another good place to look at stuff at is firemecca.com

Youtube also has a bunch of video tutorials.  Look up playpoi on there, and also nick woolsey....as he has the best videos.

Good luck
