gypsyjewels's Journal

If you're right you'll agree...

SO, I was recently approached by another company called Milkin' Cookies who blatantly asked me to change the name of my product because they have invested valuable time and money into their business (and obviously I haven't, or something). It's easy to understand her desperation, I do respect her business and what they are doing. I think women owned businesses are amazing. And, trust me - I totally believe there are enough mothers and cookies to go around. I, like her, don't want MY product to be confused with hers either.

Now, some of you may know that I am still licking my wounds from someone who already basically took my idea and the interest that I had generated and handed it all over to another business who is now also making lactation cookies in my community. That hurt BIG time, but, I am learning to toughen up and persevere. I went forward with my cookies and actually fought for the name, too. I felt like being able to keep Milk'N Cookies was my only triumph in that situation....until now.

Apparently, this company was officially established first and since our names are so similar, I would legally need to be the one to have to change my name. Suck. It's more than a major setback. It's another punch in the ego and it might be pretty difficult for me to get up from this one. Why? It's certainly not as personal as the first issue, but it is seriously NOT easy to come up with good product names.

I need something catchy, that might imply lactation or milk - but not so obviously as to scare off "everyone else". Everyone can enjoy these cookies! They are just healthy and also happen to help nursing mothers with their milk supply...it's really not the big deal people sometimes make it out to be. I've seen people put them down carefully and back away slowly as if it was a breastmilk bomb about to explode in their faces - or assume that there is breastmilk IN them. I'm constantly reassuring people there is not breastmilk in them and that they will not lactate if they eat them.

So, you can see my dilemma. I need a name and I need it now. I can't just put this business aside - not after everything I have put into it. I'm waiting for something to come to me, but it's so hard for me to see past Milk'N Cookies - so I need some outside perspective. I am open to suggestions. If I pick a name that you suggest I will send you free cookie dough and a really nice necklace (your choice).

My logo is the remaining the same - here is the old school lay out:

Help me save my cookies!

I was really fond of Lacta-Snacks, as someone else mentioned on your Facebook.

Other possibilities:

Mookies

La'Cookies

Mil'Kookies

Lactreats

I like "Mookies"!  Haha!  That's cute, catchy, makes sense to lactating moms, but no one else...
