You know I grew up with Santa.

Santa was the miracle worker along side of Baby Jesus. It just totally amazes me how people these days sit there and say "WELL, my kids know there is no Santa" What?!?! how can you take away from the mystery and excitement of this? YES Christmas is about Jesus birth and other beliefs and miracles. I am sorry, if you sit there and say there is no Santa, then you must think there is no Jesus/God just because...How do you know? Why destroy a little childs belief, makes them believe in miracle and faith. ANYTHING is possible. I understand the whole belief for different religions etc so dont need to get all hateful about that subject and how each religion has different religions etc..Believe me, I think it is awesome how each and everyone has their beliefs and practices and traditions. As for Santa tho? Yep different story.

After my dad died, thats all I had to go on was the fact that Santa was coming in 10days! He died on Dec 15. It was my baby brothers vice and my vice to get us through that month. Santa!! PRESENTS!!! Getting to see our family and be with people that would be there for us. Going to church to celebrate a birthday. My dad was 37when he passed. He made Santa so real for us, that he made darn sure that noone would "destroy" that belief. Heck, he uses to dress up as Santa for his employer Christmases. I met some people who "remember" that Santa, after he died they had someone else do it and for some reason "it wasnt the same Santa"...Sorry Tangent...

Bottom line is, just because YOU dont believe in Santa, doesnt mean the rest of us dont. Just like if you believe in God or not, just because YOU dont, dont mean he didnt exist at one time. JUST like Santa. Not saying Santa is God, just saying.

To each their own. We have decided not to do Santa in our home because we would like to focus more on the fact that Jesus is the reason for Christmas, not Santa. We realize that others believe in Santa and we don't discriminate against them because they do. Give us the same respect.

I agree with emmybearsmommy! To our family Christmas needs to be about Jesus and GIVING. In our home we want to make SURE my children know Getting presents should NOT be the thing to look forward to on Christmas!

Nov. 27, 2010 at 12:27 PM Well said, I agree, why ruin it for the kids and spoil, their fun. Some people amaze me, that is so selfish. I remember how exciting santa was, and I wouldnt want to ruin that for them.
