So as you know, my dr swept my membranes on Tuesday(11/23) and I was bleeding and having some pain. Well that night I didn't sleep at all since I was passing a lot of clots and having cramps and the baby was going nuts in there.
Well,
the next morning (11/24) come 9:20am, I had my first
contraction...nothing regular though-they were around 10-15 minutes
apart and all over the place. Then at 10:18 they started coming every
8-10 minutes and I just knew for sure I was in labor...so at 11:30 I had
my MIL call my dr and ask him if I could head over to the hospital
since it's over an hour away and since it was daytime, there would be a
lot of traffic, and he said to go ahead, and by the time everyone was
ready to go it was noon.
Once I got in the car, it got soooo much worse...I kept feeling like I had to push and the contractions were getting closer together. I got to the hospital at around 1:20pm and they wheeled me up to L&D and as I was checking in, I kept telling them I really needed to push...so they rushed me into one of the rooms to check me while my mil filled stuff out(dh was trying to park the car). They checked me and the nurse said I was at 5cm and 100% effaced and told me not to push bc my cervix would get swollen and the baby could get stuck...but idk how, my body kept pushing on it's own(the nurses kept telling me to stop pushing, and i kept yelling that I wasn't). After about 25 mins, they checked me again and I was at 8 1/2 cm and one of the nurses paged my dr bc she said I was progressing waay too fast...the dr got there in like not even 5 mins and checked and I was at 9cm so he had them start prepping and he said that if i felt like pushing i could and finally gave me the ok to have a little demerol...he told me he was only giving me a minimal dose bc I was so progressed and he didn't want the baby to get all drugged out and wanted me to try and rest before I "needed" to push.
I fell asleep for a little bit, only waking up during contractions and then around 3:30 I could feel her head inside my who-ha and yelled for a nurse...my mil paged the nurse and told her I could feel the head and she came in and said "Impossible...that can't be...it's too soon" and checked me and sure enough her head was there...they paged my dr and set me up to push...the dr came and my little girl was born at 4:02pm. She came out sleeping, they woke her up and she went right back to sleep. lol
Apparently the dr did give me an episiotomy(I thought I just tore, but my mil says she saw him cut) and so I have stitches all the way down to my butt, which is sore, but tolerable.
But anyway--Breastfeeding is going well...I had to get a pump and nipple shields because I have inverted nipples and she can't get my nipples to draw out on their own...and I have had to supplement a little in order to feed her since my milk is just now coming in.
So, she's a calm little girl...doesn't cry, sleeps and eats well and everything is perfect : )
