Well-behaved women

rarely make history.

It took quite a long time to get the IUD removed. I had to have my blood pressure taken, weight taken, questions asked, blah blah blah. I sat around in a paper shirt and paper blanket for what seemed like 100 years.

The NP tried to talk me out of getting the IUD taken out. I was stoic and quiet when she told me "weight gain wasn't a side effect". I wanted to say "BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT" but I didn't. I just smiled politely and said "Oh, okay."

She just gave me some condoms for now. I got a pap smear and had blood drawn for an HIV test and such. (I know I don't have HIV but I'm one of those types that likes to know for sure.)

Once she actually got up in my junk it took all of two minutes to find the IUD strings and pull them out. It literally did not hurt at all. I saw the tiny little devil device. I'm 100% sure it was causing most of my problems.

Luckily I'm getting the Family Planning Waiver, so I won't have to pay for the removal. LOVE it! I can't believe I waited this long and suffered this much. I should have done this months ago.

I'm excited to get my body back to normal. As of now the only medicine in my body is Prozac. I also take Ambien, but it doesn't have any effect on my mood. We're going to use regular old condoms for now. I'm going to research other forms of BC. I asked about Nuvaring, anyone have experience with it? I did the patch a long time ago in high school, I guess it worked alright. Meh.

So hope ya'll will be thinking about me in the coming weeks and months. I'll certainly be writing updates in here. I'm having a little old spotting, but it's nothing that requires a pad or tampon. I'm cramping slightly as well. I really hope this does the trick and helps me get out of my funk. Woo!

Bullshit it doesn't cause weight gain! I gained back some of my pregnancy weight while on it and I know many others did too.

Here's to getting back to the regular, non-Mirena poisoned Cait!

The only form of BC I have experience with is the Pill. And abstinance, lol! The only non-hormonal ones I can think of are condoms and a copper IUD (the Mirena has hormones on it). I hope that your body's hormones get all readjusted soon!
