I get asked that question a lot. A lot, a lot. As in every time I tell some one what is going on in my life a lot. My family personally doesn't need help because we have a housing voucher and are signing a lease on Tuesday to get into our own apartment. There are however a lot of families out there that do need help. One of the many myriad of things would be the obvious, grooming and hygiene supplies, coats, diapers. However some things are over looked and often just as needed like medicine (pain relievers, cough drops, allergy meds, children's fever reducers, but ask before you donate as some places don't accept them), boots for the winter, shoes for the summer, sunscreen, shoelaces, jewelry you don't wear much for women that are working in office settings, reading glasses, tissues, disinfectants (again ask what types before you donate), socks, diaper creams, adult diapers, band aids and some shelters depend on outside people to donate bus passes.
Another way to help is to donate your time. It can be as simple as a smile and a few words of encouragement along with some change or as complex as donating your time to help places that are finding themselves short staffed during this recession.
And that would be my computer time of the day. The kids are getting restless and we have a few more errands to run! Bye for now!
P.S. I forgot to add that I can read the comments on my journals through my phone, but I can't reply because my browser sucks, but I loved reading all of your encouraging words as well as knowing I am not the only one that has had to make this difficult trek. Peace!
