So this past weekend was a bit hectic; full of last minute shopping, baking and getting all those things in that seem oh so important just before the holiday is upon us. I was supposed to spend Sunday at my parents home with my mother and sister baking some of our favorite Christmas cookies. No kids or hubby's allowed! This was to be "my time" with my precious mother and dear sister. Yeah, right.

I call my husband to get a recipe I left at home and I can hear screaming in the background; my boys coming unglued about something. But my husband's voice goes up as he says "don't pick it!" and then yells "I gotta go hon" and slams the phone down. OK... don't panic I'm thinking.... I wait for a moment or two and then the phone rings. "Merek has a lego stuck up his nose, its bleeding and it won't come out!!" he shouts. Thankfully we live only 10 minutes now from my folks' house, cause I'm out the door in two seconds and I don't think I could of taken a long ride home.

When I made it home my little one was still crying on a chair in the living room and calling out for me. I pulled out a mini flash light and looked up my four year old's nose and - ta da - there was a brown lego stuck up there. We made it to the urgent care in about 12 minutes, the whole time my baby is saying "I'm so scared mama, I'm so scared".... being a mother, that is such a very hard thing to hear your children say. My heart was breaking for him as we waited to be seen, my little guy just cried and cried.

He did so well later and was brave as the Dr removed the lego with very small tweezers and even got an ice pop for being so good. I was so relieved that it was that easy and so was my little guy, he said to me "I'm glad that's over". Needless to say the legos have been removed from the boys bedroom for the time being. We're still trying to figure out who did this. My oldest says he didn't but my youngest insists it was his big brother who put the lego up there. Time outs galore for that one!!

And so, after a almost two hours I made it back to mom's for a short while to help with the cookies. I didn't get very much time as I had wanted with my mom. Even so, I did feel lucky to have helped my sweet boy through a traumatic event and for him to come out being ok ...
And then, it was wonderful to have- even if for just a short time --a few moments of baking bliss with Melanie and Mom.

My little sister Nancy did that once too but with a peanut lol...it got stuck in there and she screamed with fear that it wouldn't come out...my other sister Lori kept her cool ...she told her to put one finger on the other side of her nose and blow hard...and out flew the peanut  ... glad your little guy is doing good... Merry Christmas !!!  (:

OH boy! Scary! Did you find out who the real culprit was?  It's awesome that you live so close to your parents.   You'll all get a good laugh at this in the years to come! Ahhh, building those memories, lol!

Talk about scary with all the blood too!  Poor Merek.  I'm so glad he was so brave and all ended up well.  It's a good thing this happened in a way- now those two can see cause and effect!  You're a great mommy and I'm so glad it wasn't worse than it was!

Love you Jen!!  ♥

LOL, I'm sure he will never do that again.  My youngest did the same thing when he was 2.  Luckily I was able to get it out with tweezers, but he has never done anything like that ever again.

my daughter and son are 4 years apart so when he was 2 she decided itd be funny to see how many barbie shoes she could get in her brothers nose. this was 2 days before christmas. I went flying to the ER with her brother. He was fine after they pulled 6 out of his nose. Your not alone. Merry Christmas
