Grandpa

It's been over a week since I've been on. I was without internet because I was with my family. My grandpa had 2 heart attacks last Monday. He went without blood and oxygen to his brain for at least 30 min before they got his heart beating again. They had to leave him on a ventilator to breathe. My grandpa was a very active man and I knew when I saw him hooked up to the vent that he was gone. They did an EEG and found no response from his brain the day after the heart attacks. I will say that my grandma is one of the strongest, most selfless women I know. She made the decision with the rest of us that this is not the way he'd want to be with us. He wanted to go when it was his time. So we said our goodbyes. On Wednesday at 1:00 they took him off the vent. We sat with him for the next 25 min while he breathed on his own and watched his vitals drop. He took his last breath finally and his pain was over. He was preceded in death by one son and a grandson, he is survived by his wife, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren and countless other friends and family. I loved my grandpa very much, he helped raise me. He was a jokester. He was a kid at heart. A great man all the way around.
