Me, a sort of introduction

My name is Lavanda if you haven't figured out by my screen name.  It doesn't mean anything smart or clever, it's just my name.  Everyone gets it wrong, though.  It's really more like La Vonda as in it rhymes with Rhonda and not Miranda.  In high school I used to hear that it'd be a great stripper name or porn star name because my maiden name was Wood.

I haven't kept a journal in a while.  Years probably.  I would like to start off this year by keeping one, so why not on cafemom?  I've been a member here for a few years.  The site was referred to me by a friend whom I don't talk to anymore.  Nothing really happened that ruined the friendship, we were more of acquaintances really and as military life goes, she moved away.

I have read many interesting things on here.  Some I agree with, some I don't, some things that humor me, and some that sadden me.  I am a stay at home mom so cafemom and Facebook are my only interactions with "the real world" on some days.  My 5 year old son, Landon, just started karate in November so I do get to do some chit chatting with other parents while he is in class.  I also have a daughter, Natalie, who will be two in March.  She's quite the diva/drama queen.

My husband and I will celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary on April 14th.  We met while stationed in Korea.  We were both military police officers and he just recently separated from the military.  We bought our first house in August and it's one project after another but that's ok.  We knew it was a fixer upper when we bought it.  So far I'm loving how it's turning out.
