This is an excerpt from a friend's journal on another site, only redacted to remove the names of her family and friends. I can only hope two things:

1) That this darling little Trevor finds a loving home where he'll be cared for and appreciated by people who will help him get past what his "mother" did, and 2) that the pathetic BITCH who gave birth to him is found and forcibly sterilized, because anyone who would do that? NEEDS to NEVER, EVER give birth again.

When I go home tonight, I will be lighting a candle, in thanks that Tyler was found by someone who gave a DAMN about his safety and well-being and in hopes that he finds a good home with loving, stable parents.

Yesterday, it rained & snowed here. The temp never got above 34°. This morning at 8 am, it was only 29°. When I went to make my coffee, I discovered I was out of sweetener so I decided to walk up to the convenience store/gas station to get some (____, the dude that works mornings, is pretty cool and will usually let me grab a few packets from their coffee bar).

I normally go between the two rows of buildings and cut through the brick wall, which means walking across a dirt/grassy area to the back of the store then around to the front. It was wet & muddy so I went to the little sidewalk on the side of the top rows of buildings and walked around the on the martial arts studio side. There’s a dumpster out there surrounded on 3 sides by a fence.

As I walked by, I heard this little kid calling out - “Hey lady, do you gots a dollar? I’m hungry.” I went over to check it out. The kid couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6. He was wearing a thin jacket and had a backpack with him. I thought maybe he was walking to school (the elementary school is about 6 blocks away) but there was no way in hell he was dressed warm enough.

I talked to him for a minute, trying to figure out if he had gotten lost or something and he tells me that his mommy was taking him to buy donuts (there’s a donut shop across the street) but told him it was closed and she had to go get money so for him to wait there and not move. I asked him when she left him there and he said he didn’t know what time but it was dark.

The donut shop opens at 5:30 am. This was 3 freakin’ hours later. The kid was shivering like crazy and I could hear his stomach growling. I took him into the convenience store with me and told ____ what was going on. He called 911 and gave the kid some hot chocolate and something to eat (they make & sell hot food there). I called Mom, who was taking _____ to school and told her where I was then sat & waited.

Cops show up and ask the kid all kinds of questions. Called the phone number he gave them and it had been disconnected. Sent another officer to the address he had given and discovered the house was empty. The kid said his mommy had put all the suitcases in the car before they left for donuts and he guessed she had gone to get her boyfriend.

EMT’s showed up to check the kid out. He was beginning to show signs of hypothermia. Had a few suspicious bruises on him as well, so needless to say, the cops called Child Protective Services. His name is Trevor and he just turned 5 at Christmas. Poor kid. At least now maybe somebody will love him and take care of him.

I read this twice, read it to my mom, and cried all three times. Just breaks my heart to read how some moron could be blessed with a precious little angel, and treat him that way. Your friend was most definetly sent by God to help little Trevor. I pray God will greatly bless her and her family, and that God will lead Trevor to a family that loves him. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you for caring and doing the right thing and not walking away... I hope and pray that that little one finds a wonderful caring family and doesn't have too many lasting scars from this experience or any of the ones before this.

I read this with a broken heart and tears for this child. I thank God for sending your friend to find him before it was too late and for helpnig him. My husband and I had tried for 4 years to adopt a faster child, and if I could I would have taken Trevor in a heartbeat. The system makes it hard to adopt. I hope he gets a loving caring family who will adopt him. I pray everyday for God to send us a child.
