There is a saying that goes: A son is a son til he finds him a wife, a daughter is a daughter all of her life.

Tony was married on Oct 31 and we hardly hear from him at all. I do hear from his wife once in a while-which is why I am not here as much as I am on fb. She is on that all the time. The worst part is how I get in trouble when I talk to her-she sort of changes things to fit what she sees. Tony has very few friends now, in fact, out of their wedding party (they each had 5 or 6 people) he is only friends now with 2. She has weaned him from his military friends (and says that he needs to talk to them, but always has something for him to do when they could.). Tony is now out of the army and not the kid we knew at all when he grew up.

The very worst part? His little brother. I don't know, but it seems logical, but Jon's grades dropped from honor roll to NOT. I had conferences in early Oct and he had all A's and B's. This last grade time (for some reason we were not contacted except for the class he was failing) we learned he has A's and B's in half the classes. The other half are C's, D, and an F. I tracked it and the grades started to fall just before the wedding and never picked up again. We were planning on getting him his Oregon Driver's Lis this next month, but now we are not sure we can afford the insurance. We counted on at least having a GPA discount!

It has been an interesting 2010..and now? His wife posted on FB they will be moving to Maryland at the end of summer so she can work in DC.

So, there you go. Nutshell version update!
