So I finally got the courage up to tell my boss (for my part time job in retail) that I'm expecting my second baby. When I told him I asked him if it would be possible to carry a very small bottle  (those kids size ones) in my apron pocket. Sipping on water throughout the day is the only way I can drink anything because of the morning sickness. If I try to drink gups in a short period of time it makes me sick. He stared at the wall for a couple of minutes and then told me NO. He said he doesn't want to risk there being a spill at a register when I'm on the register. He told me to try to find another way, like gum or candy, to help me make it through my shifts.  Now I kind of understand not wanting to have an accident. But I wasn't asking to hold a cup or anything right at the register, I was asking to keep a bottle with a cap in my pocket. And we allow customers in the store with drinks and food that they bring up to the register with them. Maybe I am just cranky and being a baby about this whole situation. But I'm pissed right now. It will blow over but this morning sickness is pretty bad right now and I'm still willing to work!

Well bummer. I obviously don't know anything about your boss but it is a bummer that you can't do something to make life a little better. Great courage on your part, stay strong and hopefully you will start feeling better soon.

He's the boss, if you want to keep the job you have to follow the rules. He did try to give you alternatives, try them and stop whining.

Maybe you can get a doctor's note.  It sucks that people have to be so controlling cause it sounds like that is the case here.  I don't see how a waterbottle will cause any harm since it has a lid that you can fasten.  If he/she only understood how bad morning sickness can be.  Many humans lack the ability to sympathize and that is what is wrong with society today.
