Here I am... A professional, computer literate, published illustrator. So why am I returning to handmade crafts? Working digitally may may be faster and easier to create higher quantities, but there is a depersonalization between the creator and the buyer. When I create, I put a piece of my soul in that work. When my hands actually touch the product I am creating, it feels as though I have somehow blessed the person receiving it though my artwork and craftsmanship. I have given them a piece of myself, and the very best I have to give. I would hope the piece would remain a treasure for as long as possible, not thrown in the next garage sale or even the tras
I could easily place a quick photograph on my products, but that wouldn't be putting the work of MY hands on them.
I have to admit, after exploring the world of mass marketing, I have become disillusioned with the current market of factory/ sweatshop made products that only serve to decorate a room. I am tired of glitzy bells and whistles that catch a customers eye temporarily, just for the purpose of a purchase, only to be thrown away by the consumer after it no longer is the in thing to own.
So with the creation of DLJ Art Memories, I hope to use my talents, hard work, and loving care to provide a product that my customers will cherish forever.
