What in the H*** Is wrong with people?

I have been friends with a person I know for the last 20 years. She has been a hypocondriac since I met her. She just likes the attention. It's always something new. I guess people stopped giving her attention.  She knows my brother killed himself. Well a few months ago she said she was going to kill herself. So I live in another state,but we talk almost everyday. So I couldn't get to her so I called her priest and had him go to her house to help her. She was furious that I told someone. i told her I don't play around with suicide. If you tell me you are serious I won't take a chance that you are just being dramatic. So fast forward to a night ago. At about 11:30 at night she sends me a facebook message that she is going to kill herself again. So I called the suicide prevention unit in her area who contacted the police to check on her.  she has cut all contact with me and is angry says she can't believe I would do that.

What did she expect.  As for the loss of the friendship I guess it is for the best.

sounds like attention is what she is craving.  but to continue to tell you about it and your in another state..... thats just crazy.  Most people if they are serious about this. (from my experience being through it) WONT TELL SOMEONE.  AND if by chance they do.... then when someone comes to help.. then will gladly go for help with them.

She really shouldn't be playing with your emotions on this matter.  Give her a few weeks and when she contacts you again tell her to grow the Flip up.  Stop with the drama.  If she really felt this way she wouldn't be here. ( i hate to say it like that - but its true).

First of all, I'm very sorry for your loss.  Losing a sibling has to be terribly hard and hurtful.  You absolutely did the right thing!  If you think someone might kill themself, then it is best to call someone and get help for them.  Usually when people say they are going to do it, it's because they are trying to reach out to someone to stop them.  You are being a good friend whether she sees that or not.  Kharma will reward you.
