~Puppy Love~
Born the runt of the litter,
Diver was tiny, sickly, frail.
He wasn't meant for me, but he didn't know that.
Love took over, we became inseparable.
He grew to ninety-three pounds of happy,
goofy, beautiful, unconditional love.
The very best friend a soul could ask for.
Nine years later,
the words came like a violent storm...
Osteosarcoma.
Aggressive.
Incurable.
Deadly.
Amputation.
Lung mass.
Euthanasia.
Weeks to live.
Weeks.
Crushing words, too painful to face.
Yet in our seventh month beyond his diagnosis
He chases me around on three legs,
barking joyfully, demanding my attention.
As I wrap my arms around his huge frame,
he slurps my cheek as he has
a thousand times before,
and I suddenly realize there are three things
I am completely sure of......
The experts aren't always right.
Faith brings miracles, every single day.
And love, in this case puppy love,
truly does conquer all.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Miracles do happen.
Dr. A. Weil did say once that health can be dynamic balance in a system that continues physical life, or health can be the balance & equilibrium found in cessation of physical life, or it can be anything in between.
This poem is lovely & reminds me that life is so precious, so fragile, & so wonderful that we need to love all we can, breathe all we can, laugh all we can, & share all we can in every golden, blissful minute. To be alive is the miracle. To love is the miracle.
Thank you for sharing. This is an exquisite gift on a fine late winter evening.
