Too Many Irons in the Fire

Too many irons in the fire.... have you ever wondered where some of the allegories you've heard all of your life came from? There are alot of them floating around.... "for crying out loud" "good grief" really?

Now that I am trying to think of them they dissappear.... but all of a sudden they come floating out of "thin air" see I typed "thin air" there I go, now really how thin is air lol.

Ok so I "jumped the gun" hehehehe, where did that come from. Who goes around jumping guns. I just don't know where some of these saying come from.
