I have been working with my daughter for the past few weeks to get her to fall asleep on her own for nap time. She has been really tired today (because she didn't want to nap yesterday, daddy was home) and so all three time I put her down, turned on her music and she fell asleep within 15 minutes. I am sure this has a lot to do with how tired she is, but I think my persistence has started to pay off. I read that Once they learn to fall asleep on their own it will help them sleep through the night and think this has been the case also. Last night she slept for 7 1/2 hours! Once last week she slept for 8. I woke up in a panic because she hadn't woken me up in the middle of the night to nurse and I thought something was wrong. It has been hard for me to get her to take a nap for longer than 45 minutes, but she has now been asleep for almost 1 1/2 hours. I prefer it when she takes two long naps instead of 3 or 4 short ones so I can get stuff done around the house. Well, that's my small triumph for the day, but I'm super stoked about it!
