Last year I starting composting by digging a hole in the ground and putting kitchen scraps and garden waste in it. This year have bought a compost tumber and am excited about the possibilitys of using it. I have did several google searches on what can and can not be used to compost and was surpised at the things that normally would be thrown away, can be composted. I was lucky enough to get a paper shreader for Christmas, so the old bank statements, and such can now go into the composter. :-)

Who else compost here? How long does it take to make compost?

I do.  I was so excited when I saw that some earthworms had moved into my compost bin!

Last May I put one of those Sunchips compostable bags in my bin.  It is still in perfect shape except for the holes I've made in it while stirring the compost.
