haven't been here in forever - quick update

My daughter, Shamra had her son 3 days after my birthday! Another Hurricane Season baby in the family! I was with her through the whole thing and she now lives with us while she goes to a local community college.
December we went to our place in Tennessee where it actually snowed on Christmas morning! My kids were toatlly amazed as they had just watched a movie about how it never snowed in that one place but a miracle occurred and it snowed on Christmas morning! Then we were snowed in on the mountain for a couple of days and couldn't visit family.

Luckily we were already in Tennessee when my 99 yr old Papaw died just minutes after midnight on New Year's Eve night. He dies at home, peacefully. He was a very well loved and respected man in the community and always had a joke or funny saying for everyone. Unfortunately the last few years he started going downhill to the point of losing his memory, hearing and his personality so  it was really a blessing as he has been missing my grandmother since her death in 1992. He was a special man and I feel very blessed to had had him for my Papaw.

February 23rd, Lillie Carson Martin, My dh's Mamaw, turned 100 years old. She is very much on the ball. We had a huge birthday party for her in Yazoo City, Mississippi with folks as far away as Washington State coming because they knew her when they were children. Yazoo City doesn't have many hotels but practically all of the brand new Hampton Inn was filled with guests to her very crowded party that lasted all weekend! She stayed up the longest and after the little children, seemed to be the most energetic! She still lives at home and works in her garden.

Unfortunately when we returned from Miss,, Shamra's dog of 12 years, Rocky died. We had boarded him at the vet's for the weekend and planned to pick him up Monday. However early Monday morning, they called and before Shamra could get there, he had died. Shamra was (and still is) heartbroken about it, feeling very guilty for not being with him when he died. He had been having some problems with his kidneys but a weekk before the birthday party seemed to be better, and the vet seemed like a very safe option. Later they told her he stopped eating after she left. He was the sweetest tempered dog ever and extremely intelligent. He went through Shamra's childhood and baby twins and then Tristan's arrival and never once bit or snapped at any of them no matter how irritating they could get. When Tristan came home from the hospital, he guarded his bassinet. He would never allow the baby to be left alone and when he cried, Rocky would bark, to tell us to come take care of the baby!

I had been having severe bleeding for weeks and my blood count was getting dangerously low. So I had a total hysterectomy on the 29th of Mar. Except for the typical post-op soreness, I feel great. I even forget I've been spayed! Now that I'm getting blood back and color again, my energy level is starting to perk up. It's as great as everyone told me it would be! Mostly women who have had them!

Otherwise, still home schooling  the twins, helping care for the baby. Carson is active in Boy Scouts, martial arts and he and Skyla have recently started ice -skating lessons. Skyla is taking riding lessons, as well as piano and voice.

I still have the on - going mystery of having never met the other Cafe Mom that lives in my subdivision and to whom I started posting to back when we still lived in India! We keep getting our wires crossed. Isn't that crazy?!

Only now did I notice your two recent enteries I keep checking on your comments and thought you are no longer on CM! Im also on CM but very little. Shamra has a baby? Congrats on becoming a Grandma!

With my baby he is now 16 months Im having a new lease of life after 8 yrs but he doesnt want to walk.  Still people think Im his grandma sometimes because of my grey hairs...

Im glad things are Ok its always sad when a family member dies no matter the age.

Im following your book lists and am always amtazed at how many you manage to read. I just finished a book by Penny Vincenzi which I liked the Best of Times and also discovered Belva Plain Have you ever read their books?

Im preparing my sons Bar Mitzvah he is  almost 13 , How time flies...?

My cousin is now in Goa, wish I could be there to...
