Did you know that the bible belt has the HIGHEST rate of divorce in the USA? How odd is that?!

I believe it. I live in the Bible belt, and we're much too busy protecting the sanctitiy of marriage against gay people to worry about our own vows. Makes tons of sense, right?

Maybe I should move...

I live in a bible belt town.  Im not originally from here, I am from a "city of sin", but what I have noticed, and this is my opinion, which will probably ruffle some feathers, but I think people here are only religious in front of others.  In this town there are more pregnancies out of wedlock, alcoholics, wife beaters, drug addicts, etc that should be for a town that shoves religion down your throat.  Too much focus is on the religion and how it looks, not on the acutal problems that run rampant.  It's all very hypocritical.  Im not saying that ALL religious people are hypocritical.  I myself am a spiritual person, believe in God, go to church, but, I also do not put ORGANIZED religion first.  It seems cult-like to me.  There is entirely too much judgement passed as they are preaching about NOT passing judgement.  If someone is a sinner in ones eyes, i.e. gay, or pregnant out of wedlock, you should embrace that person and love them regardless of the sin, not shun them.  Here is an example of how bad things are here....a little girl goes to sunday school...for some reason she used the word "penis"...the elders of the church called her mother in and told her they were no longer allowed to return to that church.  We all can agree that the child should not have said that word, and no one knows what context the 4 yr old used it in, but shouldnt someone have explained to the child that it was inappropriate, or tried to find out why she said it?  It's all about how things "LOOK".

To get to my point, marriage is not put first, thus causing it to fail.

I will be honest, I learned that from a class I was taking before I could be granted a divorce. I just thought it was so odd, I am from a different part of the USA and just never thought of it.
