What type of things do your family sacrifice so that one of you may be a stay at home parent, or what type of things did you learn to live without or give up?

We have one car, I cook 98% of all our meals, even our bread. We don't buy a lot of things. We walk whenever possible. We keep a tight budget and we stick to it. But I have gone back to work in the last 6 months because things have gotten a little to tight. I work 3 nights a week. I would like to cut out more but hubby says no. I did learn one thing if you don't work for a long period of time you lose your social security, so if you can, get a job and work even a little so you can keep this benefit. You never know if you may need it.
