Since tomorrow's Easter, I bought an Easter egg dying kit for me and my daughter to do together. I boiled the eggs and prepared the tablets in the vinegar, my little girl so excited that she could barely stand it. We placed the eggs in the dye and waited. Every other egg changed color just fine but I noticed that one wasn't changing at all.

I continued to let it soak while Alice and I put stickers and used the crayons and markers to draw faces and write out names and make our eggs pretty while the stubborn egg in the purple dye still didn't change color. I couldn't understand why it wouldn't get any darker then the slightest tint of purple. I added some vinegar to see if that would help but, twenty minutes later it there was no difference. It was then that I realized my mistake.

I had been using disposable red plastic cups for the eggs but I had also poured myself a half a cup of grape juice at lunch in one and had left it on the table where it had gone forgotten and then got mixed up in the cups of dye. The purple tablet was still in the box where it had been unused. It must have fallen out in the box and, when I saw the cup with the purple liquid in it, I had assumed I had already used it. I had been waiting for almost an hour for an egg to change color in a cup of grape juice. I think I need a vacation.

LOL! That was great! :) It's okay, we all make mistakes like that. Pretty impressive that you even got it to change slightly though!
