I have been working on my next post and I want some honest opinions from real moms. I am writing about beauty and the media and what society and the media is teaching our daughters, etc.

You can check out my last couple of posts to get an idea of what I mean.

Please be serious and be honest. Be kind to each other. Every mom should feel free to have her voice heard without criticism.

I would REALLY love to hear from any moms of girls and any moms with experience with pageants, dance recitals, gymnastics competition, modeling, etc.

Unless you tell me not to, I might quote you. I will use your screen name, unless you give me your first name and city, state.

Thanks so much!!!

I was in dance and pageants when I was a little girl and I hated it. It was a dream of my mothers and my grandmothers to become ballerinas not mine. I wanted to be a writer or an artist. And as soon as I turned 12 I was old enough to refuse to go and I did. I think the media is brainwashing our daughters, and most women. I Don’t have time to do my hair and makeup every day before I go out, and I honestly am not up for it. And I see so many commercials that are advertising for make up and other beauty products to make you feel refreshed like a new woman. All I feel is weighed down, and nauseated that I wasted my money on something that doesn’t really matter. My husband thinks im beautiful no matter what. When she is older I want my daughter to feel beautiful in her own skin I want her to be able to look at herself in the mirror and see what I see. Nothing in this world can buy or fix inner beauty, and I wish more people or advertisements were more focused on that, but then again that wouldn’t really help out our make-up & beauty product companies. I feel like they don’t really genuinely care about making women feel beautiful all they care about is making money. If they start coming up with products that have nothing to do with looks and trying to be the latest fashionesta’s or trends. Then that’s when I will pay attention.
