This & That

Thoughts from my crazy life

My curfew was lightning bugs.

Mom didn't call my cell, she yelled my name.

I played outside with friends, not online.

If I didn't eat what my mom cooked then I didn't eat.

Sanitizer didn't exist, but you COULD get your mouth washed out with soap.

We drank from the garden hose, not a plastic bottle.

I rode a bike without a helmet, getting dirty was ok … and neighbors cared as much as your parents did.

Ah memories.....

I remember that too.  Getting dirty, eating what was cooked, drinking from the hose, riding horses, bikes and skis with no helmet.  I think we have ruined our kids.

Yes! Oh do I remember those days  so clear. I agree technology has in some ways ruined our kids they no longer want to play outside and get dirty. But we as parents need to control the amount of time they spend on the computer and Video Games get the kids outside and interact with them as much as you can be a kid your self get dirty right along with them.  lol

I also remember riding our bikes and being away from the house ALL DAY.  My mom knew we'd be home for lunch and dinner and she didn't worry about some weirdo taking us.  I try not to freak out when my kids are outside and I can't see them.  I just started letting them ride their bikes to the playground by our house.  Scarry, but what fun is living in a bubble?
