A few years ago I was moving in with my husband. My friend's daughter needed a bed and they're low income. So I decided to be a good person and help them out. The deal was that I would get my bed back in the same wonderful condition they received it in. They and their daughter would take care of it.
The time came for me to get my bed back for dd. My mom and I found a loft bed for my friend's kid and bought that for them. It was secondhand but great condition. I go to get my bed back yesterday and it was bad. The mattress has holes, stains and burns all over it. The headboard has marker all over it. I text my friend to say how pissed off I am that her daughter ruined the mattress. It was special made for the frame. I told her that receiving the bed back in the condition its in felt like slap in the face plus a F*** you. I was glad to know that my act of kindness was perceived that way. She texted me back saying I shouldn't be so mad at her daughter because she is a teenager afterall. I was so pissed I couldn't even respond.
Try teaching your children respect and act like a parent instead of their friend. Try discipline instead of whatever. When I was a teenager I took care of stuff that was and/or wasn't mine. The nerve of some people.
Comments:
My parents still have my childhood bed somewhere in storage I think but it is still in GREAT condition and I am 30 yrs old! I'm sorry they had no respect for your things after all you did for them. What is she teaching her daughter?!?
From the condition you described, I thought the friends DD was 2! Personally, her being a teenager makes her personally responsible in my book, and I would have bitched to her face. Go and chew some A$$ momma, cause hers sure ain't gonna!
I am sorry that they didn't take care of the bed. I wouldn't loan something out that I wanted back .
I'm sorry. My kids destroy beds. And even my bed has stains on it from just being used. I guess in my opinion if you want your stuff to stay "imaculate" don't give it to someone else.
Although they should have taken care of it, IDK why you just didn't give it to them? You could have then bought your DD the loft bed and been done with it.
I went through something like that also. My cousin had borrowed some baby things from me. She was low income also and I had saved my oldest son's baby stuff for when we decided to have another baby. got pregnant about a year after she had her baby and I had asked her for the bassinet and the walker back.
he bassinet was completely trashed. It was in new condition when I lent it to her and she sold our walker. i was pissed. I never lend stuff out there like that again.
Some times we have to learn the hard way.
I lent someone our high chair and they sold it at a garage sale, people suck
Yep I thought you were talking about a small kid the way you said it was trashed. People have no standards these days they are to busy thinking of themselves to give a dam about others. I could tell you many stories about the assholes of this world!
Wow....I would be extremely upset as well. And I really wonder why some PP's don't think it's a big deal. If you loan something to someone and make a deal with them about keeping it in good shape, then I would say that that's a fair trade of sorts.
Why can't some people take some pride and responsibility with things that are not theirs?
I'm sorry they weren't respectful with your things.

Wow!!! Up until I was 20 I had the same bed and mattress and it was in perfect condition....and I ended up giving the set (dressers and all) to my friend. She still has it....this bed is 11yrs old now, which means I took ver good care of it....I personally had it for 6yrs, she's had it for 5.
