I recently became a jeweler with Premier Designs, and have learned so much about jewelery in a short period of time. Before Premier I wasn't much of a jewelry wearer. I would buy the inexpensive stuff for myself (costume jewelry) if I happened to see something that really caught my attention (only to have it sit in a drawer never to be worn) OR on special occasions when I needed a little bling to accent my attire I would put on some jewelry that OTHERS have purchased for me (fine jewelry). I never knew that there was a distinct class of jewelry called High Fashion jewelry. I thought if it wasn't real (i.e. diamonds, gold, platinum, sterling, etc. AKA fine jewelry) then it was the fake, cheap, costume jewelry that was okay occasionally for a night out on the town, but certainly not for long-term wear. Here are some stats I found interesting about HF jewelry...
- HF jewelry is the bridge between fine and costume jewelry (has the look of fine jewelry at a fraction of the cost, like costume jewelry)
- Particularly from my company (not sure about others), if the jewelry looks gold it is!! If it looks silver, it's either sterling silver or rhodium! What makes it high fashion vs. fine is that it's only plated in the fine metal, which my skin doesn't complain or get green about ;-)
- A lot of the jewelry found in dept. stores like Macy's are HF pieces.
These statistics really helped me make the decision to become a jeweler with Premier. My skin is very sensitive to non-fine metals, so knowing that only fine metals would actually come in contact with my skin gave me the peace of mind to relax in not only wearing the jewelry, but also promoting and sharing it with others. Our hostess plan is awesome! Who doesn't like free jewelry?! I'm able to confidently share this company with others thanks to this info...I actually WEAR my product and not just sell it. That's a great feeling!
