A Tribute To Both My Dads...

Most children are blessed if they have one great dad, but I'm lucky because I had two. When I was a little girl I was the apple of my daddy's eye. I was the little miracle that saved my parents' marriage. Unfortunately, when I was four, my father passed away and I thought that our family would never go on. Then, one day, just after I turned eleven, my mother told me that she had began seeing a man named Brian Flowers and that she wanted me to meet him. When she brought him over, I was detirmined not to like him and was as rude and refused to even stay for dinner. I refused to talk to him everytime he was over and I would stay in my room. Then, on father's day, Brian brought his kids over and we were all going to go out and celebrate and I was depressed, like I always was on father's day, and he came into my room to ask me what was the matter. I didn't talk so he decided to guess. "You miss your father, don't you?" I didn't respond. "Is that why you don't like me?" I nodded. "Sweetheart, you will always love your father and I don't want to take his place, but if I were to die and my ex-wife married someone else then I'd be happy that she had found someone to love her and her children. I know that your father wants you to remember him, but I'm sure that he would want your mother to be happy and for someone else to be a father to you and your sister because he can't right now." I was quiet for a moment but then I started to cry and he hugged me.

From then on, Brian became my father and a grandfather to my child when I had one later. So for Father's Day, I want to celebrate both of my fathers and the day that I decided to let another wonderful man in my life. So Happy Father's Day to all and I hope you enjoy this day.
