Was just checking my facebook and reading a post by one of the tv stations in Indianapolis about New York legalizing gay marriage. I could not believe some of the comments made on it!! Following are just a few examples:

"What is this world coming too!!!!!"

"If you are heading to NY to get married. Feel free to stay there."

"Making it legal doesn't make it right. It's against God's law."

"I could cite a whole bunch of statistics, Bible verses, etc. to show people why gay marriage is wrong. But, the people who are for it will not change their minds, and neither will I. No matter how much you try to make it right, a sin is a sin. You who are for it, will have to stand before God someday, and explain why you encouraged this. Then, you will know the Truth, and it will be too late. This is not a government issue, this is a moral issue."

"Since everyone is so big on equality are we going to start treating rapists and child molesters equal, most gays say they were born that way so does rapists and molesters! They say they were born that way also, you have to have some limitations on equality!"

"When did being gay become popular!? Gay people getting married is wrong! It's sad that America as come to letting this crap happen! A man and a woman should only be the ones getting married!"

"Gay marriage = wrong and gays in Military = wrong. If you want to be a homosexual, fine, but don't push your sexuality on everyone else."

"Being Gay isnt a right, its a choice like any other wrong choice.I pray for my own wrong choices as well as others, I make other wrong decisions making me no better, but in the great scheme of things, its still wrong. We all fall short of the glory of God. But SIN is SIN."

"If they are going to go to NY to get married let them stay out there!"

If they are going to legalize gays to be married then hopefully when they divorce, it will cost them alot of money like divorce does."

"I know that people make fun of this saying(mostly gays) but it's true. If God wanted man to be with another man then God would have gave Adam other man to be with."

Now, to begin with, I am a Christian. I know I'm supposed to be against gay marriage. But honestly, when I think about it, I wonder why it shouldn't be legal? I mean, how is a gay couple getting married going to hurt my marriage? or marriage in general? Don't heterosexuals hurt it enough? I mean, how many couples have cheated on their spouses, or gotten divorce then remarried then divorced then remarried, etc?

And seriously, the comment "when did being gay become popular"????  Really? Umm, homosexuality has been around since the beginning of time! It's nothing new! It's just that now, more and more are becoming tired of having to 'hide' and being treated like second class citizens.

All those comments just amaze me though. I wonder if any of them even know any gay people or ever actually talk to any and get to know them?

I don't even know what to say to all those comments......

I completely agree with you.  People who make comments like that seem to forget that gay couples are people too and deserve the same rights as the rest of us.  Just because they happen to prefer the same sex doesn't make them any different just like if someone prefers red to orange or chicken instead of steak.  They shouldn't be punished for what they believe.

You know, it does seem that they do forget that they are people too! People just like us who just want to live their lives the way they want and want to be happy. I don't see how that hurts us.

why do other people care who marries whom? I get that they think it's a sin, but living together isn't against the law and it's a sin, eating shell fish isn't against the law and it's a sin, not honoring your mother and father isn't against the law and it's a sin. Divorce is a sin and it isn't against the law.  Hell, our whole society is based around coveting and it is a much bigger sin that being gay and no one seems to care about that.

So why is this such a pressing issue? If 2 people are in love enough to want to announce it before the world on a special day and have that announcement honoured by the government as they do all other people. Why shouldn't they be able too?
