I am at a totally new phase of my mothering...The Empty Nest.  If you have small ones running around it may be hard to imagine how the empty nest could be an issue.  Believe me I do remember those days.  But now I am facing it and its a little bit sooner than it should be because my youngest daughter has not graduated from high school just yet.  She is a Senior though and will be graduating soon.  But she is actually gone for about 6 months at a Challenge Academy program.  Now its just me and the dog most days since my boyfriend works an opposite shift than me.

The first couple of weeks was not so bad.  I have been away from my kids for that long during summer breaks and what not.  But its going on week #4 and its starting to get hard.  I miss my children being around and its hard for me to reprogram myself to do something different.

Every phase of motherhood has its challenges and its rewards.  Raising one and seeing them in adulthood is an awesome feeling too.  My 20 year old daughter blesses my heart as I watch her navigate through her life.

I guess its my turn to re-invent myself and adapt to this new phase of life as a Mom.

Good Luck! You'll find your way...and they will always "need" you so don't get too comfortable...just when you think you have some free time....someone will call! ;-)
