Dear CafeMom Friends, **EVEN if you don't live in my area, see the link below "join online" and have a kit sent to you****
I first heard about Trevor Kott in March here on CafeMom. This is something that has touched me very deeply. Trevor and his family are from Sacramento, Ca. He was 6 months old and fighting for his life. Diagnosed with the congenital disease Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) when he was one day old, Trevor’s hopes for the future were pinned on a series of donor drives after preferable bone marrow donors, including family members, were found to be incompatible. A search through the International Marrow Donor Program’s computer registry of millions of people found no matches.
I have been on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry since 1999, when I joined it was a painless finger prick for a small blood sample. Now it's done with a cotton swab to the inside of the cheek. I needed to do more, I needed to try and help Trevor so I am hosting a drive.
Unfortunately, Trevor’s fight came to an end at the age of 6 months when he passed away on Wednesday, April 25. His mother, Angela Kott, asked that the scheduled drives go on to benefit others.

“I want his life to have an impact on this world,” she said. “There are more babies, kids and moms and dads who will need you as well. Although it’s too late for Trevor, it’s not too late for the next ‘Trevor.’”
A simple cheek swab is all that is needed to see if a person is a tissue match for a bone marrow transplant. Individuals in good health between the ages of 18 and 60 are eligible. There is no cost to potential donors for the test at the drives OR online.
Please pass this on to all in the area.
Thank you so much.
