Write a story about what you think this picture is about.

Staring down the long hallway, the little girl's heart beat with terror. Fearfully she glanced behind her. What was that noise? Was that the sound of someone running towards her? She strained to listen. Pretty soon They would be closing in on her. She could only hope that the many hallways, rooms, and storage units would keep them busy long enough for her to find a way out...

She hated this place. She hated the people who worked in it. She thought back to the day that she had come here. Everyone had seemed so friendly, so caring, so normal... But as soon as her guardian Aunt Sophie had left through the front door of the institution, everything changed. The caregivers of this horrible place had taken on their true form. Their human skins and faces had fallen off like Halloween costumes. They were replaced with their natural beings- grayish skin, glaring red eyes, hooked fingers with razor-sharp claws, yellowed jagged teeth whose true purpose she now knew of...

The girl glanced into room after room looking for a safe haven. She shuddered looking at the many rooms where the Experiments had been done. Absently she reached up and played with the long scar that ran through her hair across the top and around the back of her head as her mind wandered back in time...

A loud sound of glass shattering snapped Sophie back into the present. She froze and waited... Silence... At the end of the long hallway she thought she saw movement back the way she had come. She leaned forward intently and squinted. The harsh flourescent lights were starting to aggravate her eyes. She rubbed them frantically and stared again... Nothing.

Sophie walked a couple of slow steps backwards... Silence still... She trailed her hand along one cold, rough wall... Her eyes jumped from the end of the hallway, to the walls, to the lights, and back again. She thought her heart was going to pound right out of her throat... She had the sudden urge to use to the bathroom. Her breaths came in sharp, jagged intakes.

The sound of electricity in the air made Sophie press closer to the wall as she walked. She turned around and saw that not that far in the distance was a door. The door out? Slowly Sophie walked towards the door. Silence again. Then the strange electric sound and what was that? An almost inaudible moaning? Nearer and the nearer the door got. The electric sound had stopped momentarily. There was a small square window in the middle of the door. Standing on her toes Sophie struggled to see through the window.

Just over the bottom edge of the window Sophie spied colors- blue, green, white- Sky! Grass! Clouds! This door led to the outside! Freedom! Sophie glanced down at the doorhandle and saw that the door was somehow already ajar... Could she be dreaming??? Was she this close to the outside world already? Sophie closed her eyes briefly and scenes of her horrific time in this institution flashed behind her lids, sending shudders down her spine and causing gooseflesh to arrise. Good-bye to needles bringing sleep, restraints on her bed, horrible hospital gowns! Good-bye to bland food, group showers, hourly pills that caused her to stare into the distance at a dream behind her eyes that only she could see. Good-bye to the many patients she had seen torn to pieces once They got their claws on them. Good-bye to Them. They would never have her now. She was FREE!

Sophie threw the door open and her mind couldn't comprehend what she saw before her. She shut down mentally and physically as she fell to a heap onto the floor. Her eyes stared off into the distance and she began to rock. They were there on the other side of the door. Not a way out. It had been a trick. For pasted on the back side of the door had been a snapshot of the outside world. A lifelike snapshot. They closed in on her with their needles and restraints and claws and razor sharp teeth. The sound of buzzing electricity filled the air as Sophie was restrained into the chair and then she began to scream as They began to feast on her.
