For a long time I was called away from CafeMom but I have recently returned to blog and comment on different threads.

Apparently, before I had my little hiatus, I joined a group on here called The Original Psyche Ward.  It seemed to be a group where all was fair.  Swear words and graphic descriptions were often the norm.  And because I joined that group shortly before I stopped coming to CafeMom, I don't think I ever posted in there.

So last night I saw a thread in this group called "If I Were Born With A Dick" and the idea was to tell how your life might be different.  There were several really funny posts in there.  I thought I would join in and I posted that if I were born with a dick I might possibly be a gay man.  I mean come on, I love men and I cannot imagine not loving men so if I had a penis, I would have to be gay.

And they banned the word gay.  I was shocked.  Gay is not a slur.  Gay people call themselves gay.  There is a whole parade for Gay Rights.  

Why is it okay to talk about having a dick, but not okay to say the word gay?  I simply do not understand this double standard.  And while I am at it, there are a ton of swear words in there, but they ban the word gay?  Really?  I mean, REALLY?

It is not that really big of a deal, but it absolutely floored me.  I removed myself from the group entirely.  Somehow censorship in a group such as that group is is even worse than censorship in general.  

That is all.  Just had to vent.

Thank you .  I kept wondering if I was being overly sensitive.  But really, considering all the horrible things I have read in that group, I was simply shocked.  I mean they drop the f-bomb.  And I saw a very deroggatory remark about MLK Jr. Day in there and they ban the word GAY?  Really?

I am still shocked over it.  Shocked.
