About 3 years ago, Quentin and I bought our first house.  It was honestly what I least expected to ever fall in love with.  But, from the moment we walked through it...There was something about this place that made us see it as "home."  From an outside viewpoint, this may be hard to understand.  Built before 1920, our house is big and old.  The amount of home repairs needed on the place have been craziness.  Before moving in, we had an electrician do some rewiring; put down new carpeting and linoleum flooring; painted Jesse's rm; etc.  Moving in, we realized that there was much more work to be done.  Since then, we have painted the porch; stained the deck; replaced the roof; put on garage doors, etc.  There is always work to be done.  This spring, we plan to replace the porch.

This may seem crazy to some, but we take pride in fixing up our big old house.  It's fun to take pictures of the before and after of each renovation.  Each year, little by little...Our house grows with our family.  I cannot imagine ever moving away from here.  There is plenty of room for the kids and a great chunk of wooded land that we own w/ it.  The neighbors are nice, and there is nothing more beautiful than our area throughout the seasons.  Our kids have a playroom, as well as their bedrooms to store their toys.  And, another plus is that we can redo their rooms any way they would like.  It's quiet and private here but not too far from town and Jesse's school.  Our house may be a lot of work, but this work has strengthened us as a family and brought us closer together.  I love it.

I think that sounds awesome.

Good for you, finding a place you love, that you can also improve and have fun with!
