Arghh, it's that time of year again. The stores are pushing festive gifts like never before, and the kids are reeling off list after list of expensive gift ideas that can only mean one thing. Yes, it's the festive season and will soon be Christmas. Every single year I face a mad dash to the shops to pick up the latest gift or gadget for my kids and every year I run myself into the ground trying to shop for everybody, as well as juggle being a mom and a part-time worker too. I love Christmas and we all make a huge deal of it in our household, but every year I struggle to find the right gifts to buy for my loved ones. I have three children aged between six and fourteen, so you can imagine the difficulties I face buying for them three. My eldest is a 14 year old boy who's sports mad, my youngest is a six year old girl and is obsessed with dolls and dolls houses, and my middle child is nine, another girl, who is horse crazy. I also have my husband to shop for, who is like a big kid with expensive tastes, as well as my parents and parents in-law. Yes, buying Christmas presents is notoriously difficult, not to mention expensive as well, but it is something that I love doing. If you're in the same boat as me and are looking for a few ideas, here are a few helpful suggestions.

Games consoles

If you have young children, or even old children, or even grown adults that are big kids at heart, a next generation games console is simply a must-have. Ok, they aren't the cheapest of devices, but if you can afford it, my advice would be to get it as the look on their faces when they open it will be worth more than any amount of money. These consoles look amazing and have plenty of games available so you'll be able to keep them quiet for literally hours upon hours. It's worth it simply for the peace and quiet alone.

Antique furniture or jewellery

Probably not one for the kids, but it could come in useful when buying for your partner, or even parents, or grandparents too for that matter. I should know, because I actually purchased my mother a stunning antique ring that I know she'll adore. Antiques can be bought online and they are ideal are ideal because there is so much variety to choose from, with each piece of furniture telling its own story.

Alcohol and Christmas go hand in hand with one another as we all consume far too much over the holiday season. If there are any keen drinkers in your family, then a bottle or two of their favourite tipple will go down extremely well. My dad drinks port, whilst my mother is a cocktail lover so I often purchase several bottles of various tipples and make her, her favourite Christmas cocktails for Christmas dinner. For an easy and much-appreciated gift, from my experiences, you can't go wrong with alcohol for your older family members and gift recipients.

So there you have it, just three simple suggestions of Christmas gifts that I feel appeal to a broad spectrum of ages, starting from the young gamers, to the older antique lovers. I hope I've been of some help to you, and hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
