Becoming a mother can be one of the most pleasurable experiences we ever have. But it can also be such an overwhelming situation when you consider all of the challenges that come with it. Since we were little girls all we could dream about was finding a wonderful man and starting a family.

But when the time finally came, all of a sudden the immense pressures we never realized hit us right in the face. First, organizing the wedding and having to deal with all of the expectations and people pleasing. Trying to bring together two families and have the "perfect wedding" while doing your best to stay within budget was quite an ordeal.

Then when the honeymoon was over it was time to get to work and have those kids. From having troubles of getting pregnant to finally getting pregnant and then dealing with all of the body aches and changes, the reality of being a mom was not it was all cracked up to be.

But when we finally have our first child and holding that baby in your arms for the first time, it made all of the pain and suffering worth it. It was in that moment when everything changed and  a rush of love and gratitude fills your heart.

While it can be a pain in the butt to have to deal with all of the pressures and to-do list of having a family, in the end, the amount of joy it brings makes it all worth it. While I was raising my first child, I would read quotes for inspiration that would keep me motivated when I felt like giving up and wanted to share some of my favorites with the community:

Motherhood is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else's happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you're not sure what the right thing is...and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything wrong. ―Donna Ball

When you’re in the thick of raising your kids by yourself, you tend to keep a running list of everything you think you’re doing wrong. I recommend taking a lot of family pictures as evidence to the contrary. —Connie Schultz

Even as a small child, I understood that women had secrets, and that some of these were only to be told to daughters. In this way we were bound together for eternity. ―Alice Hoffman

Sometimes, mothers say and do things that seem like they don't want their kids ... but when you look more closely, you realize that they're doing those kids a favor. They're just trying to give them a better life. ―Jodi Picoult

My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her. —George Washington

As mothers and daughters, we are connected with one another. My mother is the bones of my spine, keeping me straight and true. She is my blood, making sure it runs rich and strong. She is the beating of my heart. I cannot now imagine a life without her. ―Kristin Hannah

My mother has always been my emotional barometer and my guidance. I was lucky enough to get to have one woman who truly helped me through everything. —Emma Stone
