The second Sunday in May has arrived again - and amazingly enough it is able to sneak up on me like Christmas. This is my 31st Mothers' day as a child, fifth mothers' day as a mom - I should be a pro at this, but I'm not.

Erick was a wonderful husband on Mother's Day. He snuck into the bedroom late last night and removed the baby monitor. Yes, Grace is still having restless nights, and he slept out on the sofa so I could sleep through the night. I woke up at 9 am this morning and wondered what was going on - there was no noise coming from the baby monitor. The entire house was silent. Yes for a brief moment I was wondering if I had some how slipped into an alternate reality. I made my way into the kitchen to start the coffee pot and saw the baby monitor, and shortly after the familiar morning sound. "Momma?"

The weather was questionable today - well that is what the weatherman was saying. We had dual plans: If the weather was nice we'd go to the Minnesota Zoo. If the weather was not nice we'd go to Canterbury Park. (aka The Horse Track!) Erick and I didn't want to risk getting rained on with the kids so we went to Canterbury Park and met Karen (Erick's Mom, my MIL) for a fun time at the races. I jokingly told Erick that "Nothing says mothers' day like winning a trifecta, beer and corn dogs!" We laughed. Erick and I stayed as long as the kids were content walking around, watching the horses, face painting and junk food.... after race seven we went home.

I was lucky enough that both Thea and Grace laid down for a nap at the same time. Its a pretty unusual occurance around here. I took it as a sign from God that I should too. I laid down stairs and started watching "Infamous Murders" on the History Channel and learned all about people who didn't get away with poisioning their wives. I thought that was an interesting line up choice for the History Channel. What were they getting at? I watched this... and Erick went to the store to get grilling supplies.

Erick made a fantastic dinner - grilled burgers, noodle salad, and a wonderful berry salad! And for our dining entertainment tonight I watched the Soprano's. (Tony kills Christopher - and I'm not so shocked about this!)

And thats my day....Happy Mothers' Day!
