Ok ladies, I am sure we have all heard this one before......Hubby comes home from a hard day at work and sees you on the couch "relaxing" for the first time that day and immediately asks, "What did you do all day, sit on the couch and watch nothing?"

In total shock you say, "Yes that's all I do. The house faries stopped by and washed clothes, did dishes, swept, vacuumed, mopped, feed and bathed kids, and she even started dinner for you!"

Anyway, my DH asked what I would like for Mother's Day and my first thought was, FOR THE DAY OFF.  To do nothing but veg out. To my surprise he agreed.

So yesterday, I did nothing, absolutely nothing. I took a hot bubblebath, took a 4 hour nap-uninterupted. While he was supposed to take care of everything. When I woke up from my much needed nap, I looked around and asked him what he had done. It looked like he let the girls run wild! Nothing had been done and I could do nothing but laugh.

When I asked him what he had done while I was sleeping, he replied,"I did dishes, started some laundry." That's all he did for four hours! He asked me how I did all that I do with 3 girls under my feet.

I told him, it's not easy doing everything, is it? He told me that he has no idea how I get everything done everyday. I said, I thought you said all I did was sit on the couch and watch tv. After realizing what I do isn't as easy as he first had thought, he vowed never again to question what I do while he is at work.

And that ladies is the best possible Mother's Day gift I could have ever asked for, my DH finally understanding that what I do is the hardest job in the world and that it is never-ending.

May. 14, 2007 at 11:25 AM Good for you!  My dh still has no clue!  Even when I was out from surgery in December, I still got up and did a few things because he is "all thumbs."  I realize now that I should not have done this--he will not be able to learn any other way.  I will have a wisdom tooth removed this Friday and I am sticking my Butt in the bed!

What a Breakthrough.......Good for you, and Kudos to your husband for admitting that he has grossly under-appreciated your responsibilities! What a great Mother's Day gift!
