I have one daughter and she is truly an angel.  She has a long story to tell but she's only just going to be 3 this weekend so I think I'll wait until she gets older to explain just how she came into this world.

Emma was a preemie.  When you think of preemies you generally think of a baby being born a month or so early and having a low birth weight but Emma is a miracle.  Emma was born while I was only 27 weeks pregnant and weighed 1 pound, 11 ounces at birth.  She spent 3 months in the NICU.

It took my husband, Matt, and I a long time to come to terms with everything we went through with Emma (starting with having to have in-vitro just to conceive) but I have found an outlet for my emotion.  I volunteer for the March of Dimes and every chance I get, I tell my story for crowds of people at their events.

It is a true passion in my life now, which is a strong statement because I haven't had the easiest of lives thus far (I'm 36 now).  I was once a very shy, anxious and obsessive person and now because of everything I've gone through over the past 3 years, my life has changed completely.  I'm a new person all around and it has made me not only a better person but a better mom too!

Jan. 23, 2007 at 10:14 AM You are definately an inspiration to all mothers and especially women trying to conceive.  It's amazing to see babies who are that small and born so early grow up to to be amazing children.  Congrats on all of your precious gifts in life!

Jun. 23, 2007 at 11:40 PM I think it is so great that you do volunteer work for March of Dimes.  I donate to them as often as I can, and always participate in fund raisers when I happen by them....  What an amazing way to give back.... Way to go!!!
