You know, for those of you who will read this, if you don't approve strong colorful language, stop reading now.

Some of you already know that my youngest daughter, Cassie, has something off with her. For all intents and purposes, we have been told that she has Aspergers. I have been wanting some additional testing and evaluations from our states experts. After a few months on the waiting list, we got the letter stating her appointment--July 16, 2007.

Here I was setting at home on Tuesday morning when my phone rings. It is the center in Little Rock telling me they had a cancellation and asked if we would like to have the opening. Of course I jumped at it. Hell yeah I want the time, it was still another 8 weeks til her appointment.

So for the rest of Tuesday, I was running around trying to make sure we had everything we needed for the visit. Tuesday morning, we woke at 3:30am and loaded the car, and hit the road at 4:00am. From where we live, Little Rock is a 3 hour drive and since we had to be there and checked in at 7:30, we had 30 minutes to play with.

We get there, check in, and the waiting game starts. Her time was 8 and by 10 I was so pissed and tired. We get called back and we are only back there in the interview room for a very short 15 minutes! Can you believe that? Leave my fat cranky sleep deprived ass wating for 2 hours, for a 15 minute interview! We are returned back top the wating room to wait yet again!  About 45 minutes later, they came and got Cassie, they took her to do a psych exam. Don't ask me what they said or did, cause I wasn't a party to it. WQhile she went to do that, I sat and waited! They came to get me and took me to another room. While I was in that room, the doctor asked family medical history questions. After 20 minutes, Cassie came in where the MD did a short physical exam--checking reflexes, lungs, heart, throat, and eyes. When that was finished, we once again returned to the waiting room. After a while, I have no idea how long because I stopped watching the clock, a woman came to me and told me to go to lunch, to be back at 1 and we would all meet again.

We went to lunch and checked back in at 1. We sat there for  45 minutes waiting! By this time I have had enough of waiting and sitting and watching the clock slowly tick by! When they finally came to get me, just me I was confused because they said before lunch they needed to meet with us again. So I took Cassie out to her dad and went to the conference room. This is where thinigs took a drastic turn.

I was sitting and big surprise waiting once again. The doctors came in and said,"Mom, we don't believe that we are NOT dealing with Aspergers."  WHAT? Then they handed me a box of tissues and took my hand and said,"We very strongly believe that Cassie is emotional disturbed and suffes from depression and anxiety. She would be better served with intense psychotherapy and medicine for depression and anxiety." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I WAS SO PISSED AT THEM FOR EVEN SUGGESTING SUCH A THING. HOW IN THE HELL COULD THEY SOME TO SUCH A CONCLUSION AFTER SPENDING A VERY SHORT 45 MINUTES WITH HER. WHEN EVERYONE AROUND HER ALL AGREE THAT IT IS ASPERGERS!  THEY ARE FULL OF SHIT! IF THIS IS THE BEST ARKANSAS HAS TO OFFER, THEN LET ME TELL YOU EVERY CHILD HERE IS FUCKED!

Needless to say when I walkd out, everyone in that building knew I was pissed off. And if they really think that I will be paying the $1500.00 for that mickey mouse bullshit appointment then they are sadly mistaken! Ok I will closenow, I feel my blood pressure starting to rise again.

Wow! I don't blame you girl! It's sad to say, but this happens all to often with children. My best friend's son was diagnosed with Asperger's about two months ago. She went through the same scenario ten different times with ten different doctors until finally she found a support group for parents of children with asperger's...they gave her several referrals to excellent doctors and her son is finally getting the treatment he needs. I would suggest that you try the same route...looking for some local support groups in your area...and asking who they take their kids to see. Good luck!
