I feel really quite lazy asking this question, but let me tell you...w/3 weeks to go until my c/s, grocery shopping seriously sucks.

First you take the stuff off the shelf and put it in your cart.

Then you push all the stuff around in your increasingly heavy cart.

Then you take it out of the cart and put it on the checkout.

Then you take it off the checkout and put it in your cart. (I shop at Meijer - they've banished their baggers)

Then you take it out of your cart and put it in your car.

Then you take it out of your car, walk up a full flight of stairs 18 million times (if you are me and live in a 2nd floor ranch condo) and put it somewhere in your kitchen.

Then you take it out of your bags and put it all away.

Holy crap.  Mike will always carry the groceries up when he's home, and a lot of times he'll just go grocery shopping, but sometimes, like this wk, we just didn't plan it well and looks like i'll be stuck going or be faced with some very unhappy tummies (Bray's & my own - Mike's out of town this wknd).

So anyway, saw the idea in a magazine to do shopping online & although I think it seems sort of crazy, I'm interested.  Any advice??

May. 18, 2007 at 1:36 AM Dude. I would so do that. I'm a shopaholic anyways, so I always come home with more than I need. But shopping online would be less tempting. LOL.

I would definitely do that! I hate shopping where I live.  The people that check you out at the store are so lazy not only do I have to unload the cart, put it on the belt, I also have to bag the groceries myself.  Whatever happened to the customer is always right?  I would do anything to keep from shopping in town. Plus the intellegent city I live in just passed a 2 cent tax which means I now pay 12 cents on the dollar. The highest rate in the country!  I would also save money.

May. 18, 2007 at 6:40 AM done it! - we have a service that delivers everything- it's called peapod! - it cost $5.00 and they bring the bags right into the house :)-if i am in trouble time wise, it's a great way to save time. i also use a coop - so two times per month, i back my car up to the coop persons garage and load it up with the stuff i ordered a head of time :)

May. 18, 2007 at 8:19 AM I personally haven't done the grocery shopping online, but I definitely would.  I have friends that swear by it, but they work full-time.  Since 'm a SAHM my hubby thinks I should just go do the shopping.  I would probably spend less money though if I did it online, no temptations!

I've looked into amazon but didn't actually sign up for it.  Most are free shipping but it's worked into the unit cost.  Plus, they only offer big quantities and I don't have that much extra space to buy everything in bulk.

My husband travels a lot.  When my #2 was little, I would try, try, try to plan where I never had to take both kids shopping.  For when it couldn't be avoided, I used the baby carrier (baby bjorn, etc.) vs. having baby in the cart seat and toddler in the cart basket.  Toddler goes in the cart facing me, baby is looking directly at big sister.  Mom shops in a hurry and tries to get out of the store before meltdown.  If you don't already have a carrier I'd strongly recommend getting one.  I used to even put the baby in there when vacuuming, etc.

You should do it if I knew where to I would even if I'm not pregnant I hate going grocery shopping with my son it takes so long and I have other things to do if I could just stay home and get other things done I would.

May. 18, 2007 at 1:24 PM Peapod is the best!!! If you get it in your area, I'd go for it... and the delivery fee that you pay (which is mega low anyways) is made up for just by the fact that you probably won't be spending it on the impulse box of cookies and carton of ice cream that you'd pick up if you shopped in-store!
