Well here it goes... Last Monday night I had to rush Tony to the ER He was in some major pain. He had to spend 3 days in the hospital. Argh! Come to find he has kidney stones. Ouch! He is gonna be out of work for the next week or so till the doc gives him full medical release.

When I got to the hospital Monday night I was soooo pissed. Poor hubby was laying there across one of those couch looking things just crying. Well the first 30 minutes rolled by and no one did crap about it. Well I kept patient until we hit the hour mark. I coldn't stand seeing Tony hurting like that. The hospitals "Customer Service Rep" came out and told us they'd get us back there as soon as possible. Heres how that convo went:

Me: Well they need to hurry. We have been here for an hour and as you can see he is in major pain all he can do is lay there and cry. I know you have more than two beds back there. Surely you can get hiim in the back so he can at least lay comfotably.

Rep: We are going as fast as we can and we have to make everyone wait. We have had chest pain patients that have had to wait.

Me: So if I came in here with my leg half ripped off you wouldn't get me back quicker? I would just have to bleed to death before I could get some form of help?

Rep: Mamam you need to calm down we are doing all we can if you don't like the wait you can go across town to the other hospital and wait even longer.

(As you can imagine I am floored now.)

Me: You know what my husband better have a bed and something to dull his pain in the next 15 minutes or there will be a letter to the editor of the newspaper tommorow. I have a while to wait in here tonight and I am sure I can come up with a screw up by morning.

Rep: Whatever. Like I said if you don't like it......

Me: I don't like it thats why I am saying something and I guarantee I am not the only one of these 25 people who are sick of having to wait. If it wasn't for us you wouldn't have a job. I suggest you let the doctors back there know that too. You don't really think we want to sit here and have to wait then get slapped with a $500 ER bill for seeing the doctor a total of 5 seconds do you. I didn't think so. You people are supposed to be here if there is an emergency. You are supposed to do your job. If its wasn't an "emergency" people would wait and go to thier doctor. Ya know the ones that get you in and out ASAP. So if you don't like it you can get us a room and be done with us for now.

We had a room in 5 minutes. I was jsut so astonished how that nitch spoke to me and was treating people. Keep in mind this is not my first fight with this woman. My kids went there a few months back and we waited in the back of the ER for 6 hours. Yep 6 hours just to see the doctor. He was supposed to be doing surgery which was fine I understand that. But its a little hard to belive that is what you were doing when you walk into the room with your damn golf shoes still on. That night was interesting too. But thats a later rant.

May. 22, 2007 at 2:31 PM Oh I feel for him. I have chronic kidney stones. I would rather give birth than pass a stone. How is he? If you have any questions you can message me. I have had surgery for them as well. Have him drink REAL lemonade. It has acid in it that helps shrink the stone. Some docs say it is a wives tale, but I am proof it works and so is my brother and my best friend. It truly works. keep us posted. Sorry you had so many probs at ER.

May. 22, 2007 at 2:42 PM I have never had a quick wait at the ER, I totally feel for your DH, I have had kidney stones, and my brother is just getting out of the hospital with them, he was in for 13 days!! This may sound dumb, but tell your DH to drink as much water as he possibly can then get on the floor on face and knees. Sometimes you can get the stone to move and get a little relief. This isn't info from a Dr., just from my own experience...it doesn't always work...but it's worth a try when your in that much pain.

May. 22, 2007 at 7:18 PM Oh i had them!! Three tiny little stones. I woke up in the middle of the night in horrible pain, at first thought it was food poisoning and then after I threw up and it didnt get better, I thought it might be an ectopic. I told my husband that I had to go. I couldnt stand the pain any more! I was throwing up from the pain. So ne way when I got there, I thought they would take me in right away, because it was so obvious how much pain I was in. But no. I waited for 3 hours while the pain just got worse and worse. I was hurting so bad, that I was puking right in the middle of the er. And they still wouldnt get me in. The doc was an ass, and said go home youll be fine in a few days, nothing we can do or you. They sent me home with a prescription for motrin! I was in agony for 2 weeks!! I wrote a letter to the hospital as soon as I could, telling them that I dont pay 500 bucks a month in insurance just to be told that Im not important enough to help, and to be sent home after a quick check. I went to another hospital er and was seen right away. And im lucky I did. My kidneys had started to fail. Keep an eye on him. I soooo feel his pain.

((((to your hubb))))

We are pretty lucky with our ER...we have never waited out front for more than 45-60 min. and once back...I think that the longest we have been in the back is about 4-5 hours for breathing treatments related to asthma and the 3 times someone (hubby 2x's for pneumonia and me 1x for chest pains/breathing troubles related to a thyroid cyst blocking my airway) was admitted it happened pretty quick...after some initial testing and then an assessment that the situation was greater than the ER could deal with.
