5th Grade Graduation

My son's graduation is tomorrow morning.  He starts middle school next year. Where does the time go? Didn't seem so long ago he was a little guy starting kindergarten, now he's my height (5'5") and is off to a graduation party with swimming, BBQ and a DJ tomorrow evening!

They have to dress up for graduation, casual dress-up. My dh pointed out that they probably expect the parents to as well. I really didn't expect to have to do that until at least high school graduation. It's 5th grade! Sure, it's a milestone but, geez, even the kids don't really care! I knew the only thing I had that was "casual dressy" are a couple of dresses. I'm the kind of mom that puts my families needs above my own, so, I'm lucky to have jeans that fit and don't have holes! I'm not a girly-girl, I'm a blue jeans-sneakers-t-shirt-whatever's-comfortable kinda gal.  I can't help but feel like the dress may be too much but I'd hate to make a horrible faupax and find out otherwise. So, I tried the dresses on to see if I could even still fit in them and I could (darn that low carb diet!)  While I was trying one on, my miniature pinscher, Spike, just stared and started to growl at me.... he didn't recognize me! Lol That's how long it's been since I've worn one!

It is a milestone in his young life and once it's gone, that's it. So, we will sit in the bleachers in our dress clothes and applaud him as he's called onto the stage our hearts swelling with pride and maybe a little tear in the eye.

Momlo...

I hope he had the best Graduation ever and I bet all of you looked wonderful! How did you son feel about graduating today? I know my daughter can't wait.

Yes, in deed they do grow way, way to fast! I watch my daughter and just can't believe that she is the same little baby girl I used to change and that used to follow me around every where. My shadow...almost all grown up. I know when the day comes for graduation...I will shed some tears too!

I also am like you ...not a girly girl and always putting the families needs first. Jeans and T-shirt here as well.

Happy Day to you all!!
